Exhaustion

A new symptom has emerged over the past few days: exhaustion. I've heard of this being a symptom of pregnancy before, but I never really believed it. Cynically, I figured it was just a lame excuse used by women wanting to get their husbands to do the housework for a while. I think I might have been wrong. Late last week I came home from work completely wiped out and fell asleep very early both nights. Yesterday I took naps so frequently that I think I slept for 18 of 24 hours and still was able to fall asleep by 10pm last night and slept quite soundly. Jeramy seems quite concerned by this. Admittedly sleeping is one of my favorite activities, but even I am growing a bit alarmed as well. As it is now my house is a disaster, there are piles of laundry to be folded, and grocery shopping to do. I hate to imagine the potential state of things if this trend continues.

Between naps I managed to finish knitting the baby sweater for Debbie. I have been surprised how quickly this has knitted up, and it really is one of my favorite projects so far. I am a bit irritated with how I did the button hole spacing, but hopefully the unevenness won't be blatantly obvious in the end. I hope to get it blocked and buttons sewn in over the next few days.
I'm currently 7 weeks 2 days (if you use the IUI date) or 7 weeks (if you use my LMP date) pregnant. My ultrasound is in exactly 25.5 hours. My feelings about it have varied greatly as I quickly swing from entirely pessimistic to quite optimistic and back again. I just really hope that we'll find that whatever is growing in me has a heartbeat.

The exhaustion is really unbelievable. I spend all weekend napping. I've even been taking a nap from about 5:30-6:30 each night while my husband cooks me dinner (works very well for me).

Good luck with the u/s tomorrow! I'll be thinking of you

Beautiful sweater!! I absolutely love it! I am really impressed you finished it so fast. I only just started really knitting again in my 3rd trimester. I took nearly a 6 month hiatus, which is not good considering I have way too much stash in the first place.

Good luck at your ultrasound!! I've got everything crossed!

That exhaustion thing was one of the first symptoms I noticed about being pregnant besides the fact that AF was gone. Well your exhaustion means that the little one is growing nicely. I hope the ultrasound goes well.

The sweater is beautiful.

That sweater looks great!! I love the color too. Sorry to hear that you are so sleepy, but I imagine that creating a human takes a lot of energy :) Good luck with the ultrasound tomorrow - call me when it is done!

I'm so tired that my EARS hurt!

I have fingers crossed appropriately for tomorrow's ultrasound.

I often thought the same thing about the exhaustion. I don't know if I'm glad to hear that it is truly a major symptom or not:\

Good luck with the ultrasound! Give yourself a break with the exhaustion -- you're busy building infrastructure. I read somewhere once that the energy spent each day on building a placenta, etc., during the first trimester is roughly equivalent to several hours of mountain climbing. That definitely warrants an occasional nap.
