Pregnant Women Galore

Jeramy and I went on a tour of our hospital's birth center on Sunday. I don't think I've ever seen so many pregnant women in one place ever...not even at Target which is always dangerous pregnant when you are down on your luck in the conception department. I almost felt uncomfortable as I stared at all of these very large bellies, especially considering that mine really paled in comparison to theirs. Anyhow, the tour was quick, and all of the facilities were very nice. As we stood around one of the patient suites with the nurse describing the various features, I was very close to tearing up. To think that in a matter of months I might be occupying such a room giving birth to Spot is almost unbelievable. But luckily I maintained my composure. I mean what would all of these other women think if somebody burst into tears in the middle of a simple tour?

After feeling rather calm for quite some time, I've found myself becoming increasingly nervous over the past week. I'm not sure why exactly. I think it started with some cramping I had, which more than likely was constipation related. It has subsided, but now I find myself anxious because I haven't felt Spot moving yet. I know that at 18 weeks that is perfectly normal. But unfortunately logic does not seem to be winning any the arguments I've had with myself lately. I'm trying to stay busy but this approach has had varying success.

Here is the latest belly pic. I don't think that I look any bigger than I did two weeks ago (crap...that triggers the worrying again...ack!)

I can see a difference in the location of the bump so no worries there. And yeah, I'm a little nervous about the tour, which is funny because I used to be the one guiding the tour and giving the information....although, maybe that is why it seems so odd for me, lol.

Those babies are good for making mom's heart stop aren't they. When is your next appointment for spot. Maybe you haven't felt spot because you aren't sure what it feels like. I have heard that until you KNOW what movement feel like that sometimes people miss it.

I am sure you wouldn't be the first person to get emotional on a tour. You are pregnant and hormonal and you are allowed to get emotional. I know I am.

I can see a difference too! Your belly looks great. I am 18 weeks too and haven't felt the baby yet - my doctor we should feel by 20-22 weeks. I am sticking to that until I feel a kick. :)

It's totally normal not to feel anything yet, but if you want to try to "force" it, here's what works for me: Sit down with your feet up, not focusing on anything in particular, and drink a large glass of COLD juice (grape juice seems to work really well for me). Give it ~15 minutes. The stillness of your body, the cold, and the sugar might work to wake spot up enough to give you a good swift kick. Good luck!

Oh, please don't worry yourself too much. You look great - definitely pregnant. I get cramps too...I think it's completely normal (given all the stretching and pulling going on down there). It's cool that you went on the tour already - I haven't scheduled mine yet, but plan to do it sometime this summer.

I rented a doppler from www.babybeat.com, which made me feel OH SO MUCH BETTER between dr visits. Definitely worth $30 a month, and I even got to record Bean's heartbeat. :) You are doing great, girl, Spot will be here before you know it! Happy and healthy and keeping you up all night. Not sure which hospital you toured, but if you need a review, let me know.

I'm sure you'll feel movement, soon. Like Laura said, 20-22 weeks is normal for a lot of people! :-)

Your bump looks a little bigger to me. And you look wonderful!!!

Love the belly pic. I can tell a slight difference in the bump circumference.

I'm so sorry that you've been worrying more lately. I think going through infertility and then getting pregnant makes a lot of women very worried. I know I will be!

I see a difference, for sure! And I'll bet you ARE feeling Baby, you just don't know it for sure.

great baby bump! and i know what you mean about the worrying...i'm 17wks and felt something a couple weeks ago, but nothing since. as much as your brain tells you it's normal, we just want that reassurance of feeling something moving around in there. hopefully we'll start feeling it soon...and then we'll be complaining of a foot in the ribs ;)
