17 Weeks

I find the reality that I am 17 weeks pregnant shocking. I mean that's like actually pregnant. We're talking baby bump and maternity clothes pregnant. Well into the second trimester pregnant. Listening to the heartbeat pregnant. The big ultrasound looming ahead pregnant. And I'm finding it amazing, especially given that there were several times in the fall when I wondered if I'd ever know what it was like to be pregnant.

Over the weekend, I actually went into a maternity store to buy maternity clothes for *gasp* me. Honestly I felt like a bit of an imposter as I looked around at all the women with much larger bellies than me. But over the past week the Bella Band was getting increasingly annoying as it rides up in back, and while my work slacks will hold out for another week buttoning my jeans is simply not an option. So I bought a new pair of jeans and a few shirts. And after buying some maternity clothes I almost wish I was pregnant all the time. I mean why don't all jeans come with an elastic waist band??? And unlike those hideous elastic waisted, tapered-legged things my mom used to wear when pregnant, these actually look stylish too. Plus my pear shaped body is naturally designed for an empire waist, so I welcome the excuse to make such a style the basis for my entire wardrobe.

Also this weekend, I finished crocheting the brown baby blanket. I need to weave in the ends, and then I'll post a pic. The only last thing to finish is adding a ribbon, which hopefully we'll do after the big ultrasound on May 15th. That's less than a month away!

my fave maternity jeans (and the only ones i'll wear) are the secret fit ones from motherhood...definitely the most comfortable jeans i've ever put on and i think someone will have to burn them to get me to stop wearing them after the baby comes!

Congrats on 17 weeks AND on the first maternity purchases!

I am SO with you on empire waists and the elastic band jeans. I am spoiled now. Although I will say that I have to "hitch" up the jeans more than regular ones, but worth it for the comfort level!

Congrats on 17 weeks. What an accomplishment. I bought some maternity pants already just because they were more comfortable. I didn't feel stuffed into regular clothes. I like the secret fit ones too. I am not so keen yet on the empire waist shirts as I still haven't made it public knowledge around my office but I think they "know". I just keep wearing t-shirts.

I am glad the blanket is about finished. I can't wait to see the pics.

By the way, I didn't tell you before but I like the new layout of your blog. I like your picture too. very cute!!!

And thanks for your kind comment on the post about my Grandmother. I knew you'd "get it" too.

OMG... where is the time going?!

Hey, if they was a way to get away with wearing maternity jeans, I would do it in a heart beat. Ever since I saw the 'Friends' episode when Joey wore Pheobe's maternity pants at Thanksgiving.

Congrats on the maternity clothes! These days, I completely live in maternity jeans, and t-shirts or empire waist shirts. So comfy! But, I worry that I'm getting a little in a rut already, with many many weeks to go....

Congrats! The thing about the maternity clothes is funny because I bought a pair or work pants and a skirt when I went to get my tummy sleeve. You think you felt odd at 17 weeks? Imagine being 8 weeks, lol. And yes, throughout the day, those bands do ride up in the back =/

I miss your picture that comes up with your comments. I didn't know it was you that posted on my blog until I clicked further. Then at first I didn't know it was you because of your blog change name. You need to put a picture back.

Thanks for your comment on my blog! You were right on about the Clomid/Injectible combo!

How fun that you got to finally buy maternity clothes! I know I always wonder when I walk by those places if I'll ever get to buy stuff there! I'm sure I would feel the same as you...odd!

Can't wait to see pics of the baby blanket!!!

I've bought several maternity pants at Gap Maternity already - found lots on sale. I needed work pants - badly! My jeans still seem to fit, so I haven't bought maternity jeans yet - maybe becuase they're lower in the waist than my work pants, not sure. Anyway, congrats on buying some fun maternity clothes - this is just the start of it! Looking forward to seeing your blanket!
