A Belly

Having a belly is nothing new to me. My weight has fluctuated quite a bit over the past several years, but I've certainly never fallen into the category of skinny. Although I'm pear shaped and carry most of my weight in my hips and thighs, I could not have called my belly flat and still kept a straight face. So I've been curious...anxious really...to see when I'd begin to start showing. I should have been taking pictures, but silly or not, I've sort of steered clear of documenting my starting belly size with anything permanent. So instead I've relied on constant profile checks in the mirror and self assessments where I wondered whether my belly was always that big or whether it was any bigger. I've also relied on the occasional belly rub or tap to ascertain whether my belly is still as flabby as usual or whether there is any increased firmness. Despite all this, the only firm conclusion I've reached is that I stand a fair chance of looking like an Oompa Loompa while pregnant.

But then yesterday I was chatting with my next door neighbor the first time in a couple weeks. She said something about me starting to show. Let's just say I was over the moon.

That is exciting. I feel the same way about my belly. Never particularly flat, I notice a difference because my prepregnancy pants don't fit right. I was wondering when I should start taking pictures myself but it is sometimes hard (atleast for me) to differeniate when belly flabbiness is because of baby and not blubber. Glad your neighbor says you are showing. That is really cool. So since you are showing, when do we see a belly pic?

Neat! I'm still fitting into all my pre-preggo stuff (I should at only 7 weeks! lol) but I am definitely more bloated. DH and I predict it will be "noticeable" I am pregnant by week 12. We shall see...

Oh and yes, you need to take a belly pic!

I declared myself as "showing" as soon as I couldn't button normal pants. I like it better than saying, "nah, that's just fat." I love the comparison to oompa loompas. With my bizarrely bright under-eye circles, I've even (almost) got the coloring for it.

i took a pic at 8w and again at 12w and plan to take them every 4 til i deliver. i noticed a little difference in the two, but now i feel like i've definitely popped out more. i know what you mean, though...i want to walk around feeling confident w/ my baby belly sticking out w/o thinking ppl are looking at me thinking i should wear something baggier, or suck it in more ;)

You will need to start taking those pictures. The bump is the most enviable part- you need to show it off no matter how big, little, or flabby you think it is! And OOmpa-Loompa! HA! You crack me up!

Although I'm all of 6 weeks - I've allowed myself to wonder about what I'll be looking like when I start to show. I've seen some pictures of other 'fluffy' pregnant bellys - some are cute... some are NOT. Sigh.
